little investigators covid-19 statement

In addition to our rigorous safety procedures and staff training protocols, we are following the latest guidelines on health and safety, cleaning and preparedness from the CDC and the San Joaquin County of Public Health.

Governor Newsom announced that “Childcare establishments, summer camps, and other educational or recreational institutions or programs providing care or supervision for children of all ages” is allowed under the shelter-in-place orders (Link to Newsom’s statement).

We believe early childhood education programs will be more important than ever this year, as it will provide children an important break from any stress and anxiety caused by the disruption of their normal schedules. We are preparing contingency plans and are equipped and ready to adjust our program to meet any government advised guidelines, should the shelter in place continue into the summer.

We believe it is important to provide a clean, safe, and beneficial environment for our community’s youngest learners.

What is Little Investigators Preschool doing to help manage the disease?

The safety is our children is always our main priority. We will continue to go to above and beyond to develop and maintain practices to address a variety of communicable diseases, both common and rare.

To help mitigate potential transmission, we have made the following policy changes:

  • Hand hygiene stations at all entrances of the school.

  • Continue to require children and staff to wash their hands with soap and water for 30 seconds

    • Arrival to school and after breaks

    • Before and after preparing food or drinks

    • Before and after eating or handling food, or feeding children

    • Before and after administering medication or medical ointment

    • Before and after diapering

    • After using the toilet or helping a child use the bathroom

    • After coming in contact with bodily fluid

    • After handling animals or cleaning up animal waste

    • After paying outdoors or in sand

    • After handling garbage

  • Children and staff will wear "inside shoes" while inside of the school, the inside shoes stay at school. Parents/Guardians are required to wear shoes covers when inside the facility.

  • Touchless check-in kiosk

  • At nap time place children’s mats at least six feet apart and place the children head to toe.

  • Greet parents outside as they arrive.

  • Child temperature check upon arrival.

  • Routinely clean, sanitize and disinfect surfaces and objects that are frequently touched, especially toys and games. This includes objects/surfaces not ordinarily cleaned daily such as doorknobs, light switches, classroom sinks handle, countertops, nap pads, desks, chairs, cubbies, and playground equipment.

  • Clean and sanitize toys continuously.

  • Staff, volunteers, and parents will be required to wear masks on site.

  • Guardians will be asked to sign a confirm that no one in the household is experiencing symptoms upon arrival to school.

  • All events and parent volunteers are canceled until further notice.

What are signs and symptoms that I should leave my child at home?

Just like with the flu and other illnesses, we ask that children and staff stay at home if they are experiencing distress or showing contagious symptoms.

For COVID-19, symptoms include a fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell. Children have similar symptoms to adults and generally have mild illness.

We are monitoring the situation closely and will keep you updated as we learn new information.
