We use a specific set of strategies that allow children to investigate real-world topics that interest them. The project approach is broken into three phases.
Phase 1 the children choose a topic that we will explore.
Phase 2 the children explore & investigate, with research, observation, and expert presentations.
Phase 3 the children have the opportunity to share what they have learned, this solidifies their understanding.
Learning Centers are small areas within the classroom where children work independently or with others using instructional materials to explore one or more subject areas.
Our schedules are carefully designed to balance structure and free choice, as well as active and quiet times. Projects are planned based on the children's interest and ideas, and may take days to weeks to months to investigate.
